CUB SCOUT PROGRAMS


Cub Scout Civil War Overnight
 

                                

A Cub Scout CLASSIC program

Presented by the Archway's 1848 Civil War Venture Crew in full Civil War dress.
Cub Scouts of all ages can enlist in the U.S. Army in the 1860’s and learn how to be a Civil War infantry soldier. March, drill and carry on like a Civil War soldier all evening long. Learn to dance the Virginia Reel and sleep “Civil War style” and learn what close quarters really means. Scouts will earn an overnight patch and work on Cub Scout requirements.

Registration begins at 6:30 p.m. and activities conclude at 11:00 a.m. the following day. Program price includes cost of all materials, breakfast, and Archway tour. Reservations required. The Cub Scout program is recommended for Webelos, but can be altered for younger scouts.

Program dates:  Friday, January 21, 2011; Friday, April 15, 2011

Wolf Night Overnight in the Earth Lodge

                       

For all cub scouts, with emphasis on Wolf scouts.
Explore the mystery of the wolf during this overnight program. Scouts will learn about the life of a wolf in the wild during the 1800’s and today and their relationship with Native Americans, they will take part in a Pawnee “wolf hunt” as well as fulfill wolf electives by writing a story with word pictures and make their own Indian drums. The evening will conclude with sleeping overnight in the Archway's new earth lodge (weather permitting)!  Cub Scouts will begin the next morning with a hot breakfast and begin to fulfill more wolf and bear electives including learning about the Pawnee and Sioux tribes of Central Nebraska, helping to set up a teepee and playing Native American games.

Registration begins at 6:30 p.m. Activities conclude at 11:00 a.m. the next day. Program price includes scout program, Archway Overnight badge, breakfast and Archway tour. Pre-registration required.

The Archway's 1848 Civil War Venture Crew presents it's new Civil War overnight program for scouts.  If you like Civil War history, your troop will love this hands-on advanced program.  (NOTE: Scouts will shoot blank rounds in replica Civil War era rifles).  Pre-registration required.   Please contact Ronnie O'Brien for details.

Indian Lore in the Earth Lodge

                             

                                                                                                                                                     FOR ALL LEVELS
A Boy Scout CLASSIC, over one year was spent developing the Archway's Indian Lore program, consulting with the Pawnee and Sioux (Lakota) tribes.

The Indian Lore Boy Scout Overnight Program provides scouts the opportunity to share and preserve the history of the Native Americans. During the program, scouts take part in various activities that pertain to the Pawnee and Sioux tribes. Some activities include making replicas of tribal clothing and learning the Pawnee and Sioux Flag Songs. Scouts will earn the Indian Lore Merit Badge.  WEATHER PERMITTING, SCOUTS WILL SLEEP IN THE EARTH LODGE AND WILL BUILD A REPLICA EARTH LODGE FROM NATURAL MATERIALS.

Registration begins at 6:30 p.m. and activities conclude at 11:00 a.m. the following day. Program price includes cost of all materials, breakfast, and Archway tour. Reservations required.
