Learn how Native Americans respected “Mother Earth.” Friday night will concentrate on the Earth Connections badge – read tree rings, learn how Native Americans used plants, play an eco-game. The program will focus on the Pawnee and Sioux tribes of central Nebraska; the young Native American girl and her role, what trees were sacred, how trees and plants were used, and the importance of “Mother Earth” to both tribes. Scouts will spend the morning creating their own dreamcatcher before touring the Archway show. All troops will have an assignment to complete before attending the program. Cost includes: overnight program, Archway overnight patch, hot breakfast and Archway tour.

Trails to Towns (click here for flyer)
During the “From Trails to Towns” program Junior Girl Scouts will co me together to learn about their towns as well as others. We will discover each town’s famous people, legends and landmarks. We will focus on the future of each town, and focus on the past by starting one of the first towns along the Great Platte River Road. Scouts will decide what is needed on their journey, meet their new Native American neighbors and will decide what is important in starting their new town. The evening will conclude with the watching of the movie “O Pioneers” (based upon the novel written by Nebraska author Willa Cather.) The overnight ends the next morning with a hot breakfast, tour of the Archway and reenactments from the trails era by Archway reenactors. An Archway Overnight patch is included. Maximum of 100 girls.
